Cunming Duan is Professor of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and Director of Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

He received his BS degree from Ocean University of China, MS degree from Kochi University, and doctoral degree from the University of Tokyo. He worked as postdoctoral fellow at University of Washington and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, before joining the faculty of University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

His research focuses on understating the roles of insulin/IGFs in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and cell plasticity; transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression; roles of insulin/IGF signaling in modulating development and growth in response to hypoxia and nutrient restriction. He has published over 120 articles on these topics
